A glorious weekend saw a large turnout of our stalwart volunteers to finally break the back of our construction works at Lawley.
As of today, Sunday 22nd March, we can finally say that we have a station at Lawley!
This statement is not to be sniffed at as the works that we have had to undertake, in sometimes horrendous weather, are testament to the determination and enthusiasm of our volunteers. We still have some very minor finishing off works to carry out such as signage, the installation of the pagoda waiting shelter, finishing laying of the access path and some touching up with a paint brush. These may seem like some big tasks but they are not strictly necessary for the station to open. And open it shall on Saturday 4th April with the first public train departing 12:10pm for Horsehay & Dawley. For our loyal members there wil be a special members charter departing Spring Village at 11am heading to Lawley. This ‘first’ train is strictly for Telford Steam Railway members only and valid memebership cards must be produced on the day to travel on this special service. Platform checks will be made at all stations. There will also be a commemorative cake and refreshments provided at Horsehay & Dawley station upon arrival of this first special service, as always weather permitting.
So to salute the efforts of all those that have put their time and effort in to making this happen here is a bumper collection of pictures.
