Tickets/Letter

You should of all recieved your tickets by now if you haven’t please contact us by clicking here and we will arrange for pick up on the day of the event. For those of you who haven’t got enough golden tickets please mention this to a member of staff on arrival and we will provide you with more.

YOU MUST bring your letter with you! Your letter acts as your official ticket to ride not the Golden Ticket. Failure to provide the letter could mean you miss the train and we are unlikely to be able to provide you with seats at another time. Please have your letter on hand for when you arrive at the carpark / disabled parking.

Travelling

Update: Emergency Road closeure on part of the The A442 Queensway from 19:00.

Please plan your travel in advance to coming to the railway. Remember it is December, we want you to arrive safe so give yourselves plenty of time to travel. We recommend you keep an eye on the forecast to allow yourselves plenty of time to arrive. Anyone arriving late due to any issue beyond our control such as Weather / Public transport / Road closures / Accidents etc will likely miss their train and we are unlikely to be able to provide you with seats at another time or offer refunds. We recommend looking at https://roadworks.org/ before you leave and Google Maps for Live Traffic.

What if there is bad weather?

We will operate THE POLAR EXPRESS in all weather and recommend you give yourself plenty of time to arrive at the railway. Unfortunately, we will be unable to hold a train to wait for you, due to our tight schedule, if you miss your train it is unlikely we could provide you with a seat on a later train as we are fully booked for this event. Please check our Website and Facebook page before you leave for updates.

Arriving

Everyone is required to park at the Jiggers Bank car park unless you have prior to arriving arranged disabled parking by contacting us. Please have your letter on hand for when you arrive at the carpark / disabled parking. We recommend all guests arrive 45mins to 1 hour before their experience time. Anyone arriving later unfortunately is likely to miss the train and we are unlikely to be able to provide you with seats at another time or offer refunds.

All our guests will be transported by a free shuttle bus from the free to use Park’n’Ride at Jiggers Bank to Telford Steam Railway. All guests must report here in order to check-in. Please be aware that if you try to travel direct to the Telford Steam Railway site (unless pre-booked) you will be directed away and this delay could lead you to missing your train.

ID

You may be asked to provide photo ID to confirm you are the holder of the tickets. Everyone wants to come aboard THE POLAR EXPRESS and therefore we want to make sure only the people who bought their tickets legitimately are allowed to enter the experience. Your ID MUST match the name on the ticket so if you have bought them off a friend the original purchaser must contact us immediately to inform us they have transferred the tickets failure to do this is highly likely to cause you to be turned away and we don’t want that now do we!

Car Parking / Disabled Parking

Everyone is required to park at the Jiggers Bank car park (Follow the signs for “Ironbridge Park and Ride” ) unless you have prior to arriving arranged disabled parking by contacting us. You will then transported by bus to the railway to begin your experience.

What to wear

Many of you have shown us photos of your PJs which is great! We are really pleased to see that you are getting fully involved with the experience to make it truly magical. We just wanted to make sure you do bring coats to keep you warm. The event is taking place in December and there are some parts where you will be open to the elements so be sure to bring some sensible footwear and something to keep warm and dry.

For the safety of our guests we ask that everyone wear sturdy, closed toed shoes and not slippers, open toed shoes or flip-flops etc.

Disabled Guests and Wheelchair users

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the heritage carriages that we use, we are unable to accommodate wheelchairs on the train. If a wheelchair user is able to transfer to the train and use the provided seats we are happy to accommodate them and we will transfer their wheelchair from the boarding platform to the exit platform. However a wheelchair cannot be left on the train. We are sorry for this inconvenience. If there are any further questions regarding disabled guests please contact us by clicking here.

Pushchairs

There are no facilities for pushchairs on the train, we advise you leave them in your car where possible. Any pushchairs brought to the departure station will be moved to Spring Village for collection.

Food and Drink

We are able to accommodate most dietary requirements on the train. Cookies are available with no Milk, Gluten, Egg, Soya and Nuts. Where requested Hot chocolate will also be available that is Dairy Free, Please make yourself known to staff at when you arrive on site.  No food or drink is allowed to be brought onto the train. Telford Steam Railway reserves the right to refuse entry or remove from site anyone who is behaving inappropriately.

Bells

Each Child will receive a bell, we have had a large number of requests for adults to receive bells also, due to constraints with the licence we are only able to offer bells to adults with special needs.

    The correct postcode for the park and ride is TF4 3QE, not TF4 3QG which will send you to a dead end.
