Following on from the success of “Tom” starting the season off with an inaugural run in 2017, Telford Steam Railway has made the decision to start the season off with 08757 “Eagle” rostered for passenger hauling duties for the first time.
08757 was purchased at the beginning of 2017, due to us requiring a loco capable of providing support for the S160 during the Polar Express event – which it performed admirably at the end of 2017.
After being built in 1961 08757 saw service as far north as Aberdeen and as far south as Westbury in Wiltshire. Prior to joining the fleet at Telford 08757 was resident at the DBS Yard in Crewe.
During the past 12 months 08757 has been returned to running service, had a new coat of paint, and even the fitted remote control gear is working.
